A 17-year-old boy was charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer after an altercation in Virginia Beach.

As the officers attempted to detain him, the boy reportedly stabbed one of the officers with a knife. The boy was arrested on-site. The injured officer was recently released from the hospital and is continuing his recovery at home.

Officers say that the 17-year-old was also involved in a crime that occurred earlier that day. In that incident, an officer was apparently flagged down by someone who claimed to have been assaulted and robbed by someone with a gun. Officers tracked down the suspect, another teenage boy, and placed him into custody. It was not until the second incident that officers connected the 17-year-old to the first crime. Both teens are now in custody and being held without bond.
