In Fairfax City, drug charges can lead to significant consequences in the event of a conviction. With the growing attention on drug manufacturing, sales and distribution and attempts on the part of law enforcement to reduce its frequency, many people are facing the serious consequences of their alleged crimes. One particular drug that is growing in popularity is methamphetamine and law enforcement is making a major effort to combat it.

A man who had been wanted on other charges was found to be involved in the manufacture of methamphetamine. The man, 29, was caught by law enforcement after they received a tip that a wanted man was staying at a motel. When they went to his room, they allegedly found paraphernalia used to make methamphetamine. The man stated that he others were involved in making the drug and that he intended to distribute it. He now faces the charges for methamphetamine as well as the original charges he was wanted for.

Regardless of the circumstances, a person facing drug charges needs to formulate a strong defense. Given the seriousness with which drug charges are taken in society, the penalties can be extremely harsh and life-changing. There can be large fines and significant jail time. A felony conviction can affect a person's life permanently.

Even if the defendant has been caught in possession of drugs or made statements to incriminate the individual, it's imperative to prepare a defense that can keep the penalties as limited as possible. In some cases, the charges might be reduced or even dropped depending on how the evidence was accrued. Law enforcement must follow a certain protocol during an investigation and if they fail to do so, the evidence could be inadmissible.

In this case, the man was wanted on other charges and caught with items linked to the manufacture of methamphetamine. He is said to have admitted that he was going to make and distribute the drug. Even in this situation a criminal defense is possible and necessary. People facing drug charges need understand all their legal rights.
