When a Virginian is facing drunk driving charges, it is not necessarily a matter of a police stop, investigation and arrest because the person was operating the vehicle erratically. This is how many DUI/DWI charges are perceived to come about. In other instances, however, there will be an accident, the attempt to flee, and even violent behavior to try and avoid being placed under arrest. Those who are arrested on any kind of drunk driving allegations needs to make certain to plan a viable defense immediately.

A 35-year-old woman was arrested on multiple offenses after she allegedly drove under the influence, hit eight cars injuring two other drivers, and attempted to assault the law enforcement officer during the arrest. The series of incidents culminated with her arrest.

It is believed that she was under the influence of both alcohol and drugs.

The woman faces hit and run, attempted assault on an officer, resisting arrest, operating the vehicle recklessly and driving without a driver's license. She had a prior DUI within the past 10 years.

The series of charges this woman faces are substantial. The accusations she is confronted with are very serious and the punishments she will have to deal with will change her life forever if she has a felony conviction.

Even with the seriousness of the charges, she should not simply accept her fate without formulating a strong defense. It is possible that there were extenuating circumstances or perhaps a plea deal. There is always a chance of acquittal. With this in mind, she and anyone else who is dealing with any kind of drunk driving charges may benefit from discussing the matter with a qualified attorney.
