Woman Charged With Felony Drunk Driving In Virginia

Drivers in Virginia are expected to adhere to all traffic rules and laws, including being sober when behind the wheel. When a person is stopped by law enforcement on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and an investigation commences with an eventual arrest, those who are dealing with these drunk driving charges need to know how to plan a defense. This is true regardless of the circumstances whether it is a felony drunk driving charge or lesser charges.

A 42-year-old woman was placed under arrest on multiple offenses for an alleged incident in which she is believed to have been driving under the influence. At around 3:30 p.m., law enforcement received information that there was a suspected drunk driver on the road with children in the vehicle. When police investigated, they placed the woman under arrest on several charges including felony child endangerment and felony DWI.

Virginia treats drunk driving charges very seriously, and the penalties that accompany a conviction are significant and life-changing. There can be numerous expenses, including fines, losing one’s driving privileges, having an ignition interlock device installed on a vehicle and even jail time.

Charges not only influences a person financially, but also personally. These charges can be a hindrance in any endeavor for the rest of his or her life. As a result, those who are charged need to be aware of possible foundations for a defense, such as an unjustified police stop or problems with the breath test that render the evidence inadmissible.

In this case, a woman is facing drunk driving charges after being stopped in her vehicle with children in the car. Without a strong defense, she is facing the possibility of a felony conviction and the accompanying punishments. With that in mind, she must make sure to contact a legal professional experienced in helping clients who are faced with charges of felony drunk driving as soon as possible.
