Virginia Tech Football Player Arrested On Drunk Driving Charges

Law enforcement in Virginia does not discriminate when it comes to arresting suspects for driving while intoxicated. Driving under the influence of alcohol can lead to long-term problems for anyone, if there is a conviction as it can affect their driving privileges, result in fines and even lead to jail time. A wide receiver for the Virginia Tech University was arrested for driving while intoxicated and for being intoxicated in public. The man, Deon Newsome, was confronted by police in the parking lot of a Walmart at approximately 6:20 a.m. before being placed under arrest. Mr. Newsome, who is 20, was charged with a Class 1 misdemeanor for the DWI and a Class 4 misdemeanor for the public drunkenness. Following his arrest, the school suspended him from the team for an indefinite period.
